RAVENNA
ITALY
Pioneering Partnership
Ravenna was once the capital of the Roman Empire, home to Dante’s tomb, and remains a UNESCO World Heritage site. Alongside this extraordinary cultural heritage sits beautiful natural coastline. Our development will make the port an attractive homeport with easy access to the heart of the Mediterranean.
A new way of working
Our Ravenna project is the first public-private partnership in Italy’s cruise sector to actually break ground. This shows how partnerships can support cruise terminals as a growing type of investment, structured as self-contained businesses that bring together all the different pieces needed for world-class facilities while supporting local jobs and businesses.
The terminal’s location will give tourists easy access to Italy’s major cultural destinations—Venice, Florence, Bologna, and San Marino – while our partnership approach ensures the facility genuinely serves local community needs too.
Leading on sustainability
The new terminal opens in April 2026, featuring 12 hectares of integrated landscaping with public green spaces, walking and cycling paths, and entertainment areas for residents and visitors that celebrate the natural coastal environment.
We’re pursuing LEED Gold certification, making this Italy’s first LEED-certified cruise terminal. The sustainable design focuses on water and energy efficiency, renewable energy, recycling, and waste management. The port authority is also investing in shore power so ships can turn off their engines while docked, supporting clean energy and carbon reduction.
Together, these elements show how thoughtful partnerships can deliver world-class cruise infrastructure that enhances rather than burdens historic destinations.
